Smart real estate decisions gave me the power to leave an unfulfilling corporate job for a career that has helped me grow every aspect of my life. This is the story of how I made real estate work for me — and how I can use that blueprint to help you change your life, too.
At 23, I had a great paying corporate job and saved money by living at home with my parents. One of my closest friends was a mortgage broker and her mom was a realtor; together they encouraged me to use my savings to buy a house in Manayunk. I lived there with roommates whose rent covered the mortgage while the home appreciated — then I sold that home and used the equity that I accumulated to buy a really cool loft in Fishtown directly from a developer. I realized during this process that I really loved real estate so, with the financial safety net created by selling the Manayunk house combined with a payout from my previous job, I was able to switch careers.
After living in the Fishtown loft for a few years, I moved to Wynnewood with my partner and decided to keep the loft for rental income while also buying another investment rental property in Port Richmond. I just sold the Fishtown loft in the recent seller’s market so I can start planning my next investment.
I was able to buy and sell all of these homes with just my original down payment and using equity that accrued over time. Throughout the years I have gained the experience and expertise necessary to make this process as seamless as possible. Designing a plan to sell your home is as much a science as it is an art, and timing is everything. I also realize that life doesn’t stop just because you’re selling your home so I streamline the process to ensure that your time, energy and resources are spent efficiently and yield value.
